In the Instructor Guide (IG), the new Review units show 12 Student Guide (SG) pages only, there are no IG pages. The SG pages include an objectives ladder, some written exercises, and 5 sets of role cards. This is too much to do in one lesson, of course.

RECOMMENDATION:

The review units are very different in the new content. Even though the layout is different from the other units, there are 3 Instructor Guide (IG) pages with instructions on how to handle these units (see document attached). These instructions are boilerplate, but should provide answers to some of your questions.

As you probably noticed, review units are made of 9 vocabulary/grammar activities and 9 fluency activities (role cards) all associated with a Goal number. These activities match the content of the 9 previous units. So, to take an example from Berlitz English 3, the activities named Goal 1 will refer to the first unit of English 3: Ask and answer questions about personal experience.

Using the objective ladder, the student and the instructor can identify 2 or 3 speaking goals that need review or further practice and do these activities together.

It is unlikely that time-wise they can do more than 3 practice activities and 3 fluency activities. The other practice activities can be assigned as homework.
